Battle of the Standards Conference
There is a battle raging in the Swiss capital markets between two sets of accounting standards: the globally recognised set of International Financial Reporting Standards IFRS, issued by the International Accounting Standards Board IASB, and the local Swiss standard Swiss GAAP FER. Thanks to its uniquely liberal regulation allowing listed issuers to choose their accounting standard, Switzerland is probably the only battleground where this globally relevant battle between IFRS and local standards can be fought in practice. The battle is between the practical value to investors of more comprehensive, prescribed disclosures on the one hand and a lighter-touch, allegedly more cost-efficient reporting for issuers on the other, conscious of the fact that financial reporting is made for investors. Attend the Conference to learn & discuss how investors use issuers' financial reports based on different accounting standards, and what the value propositions of financial reports are, based on the two sets of accounting standards.
The event language is English.
The Conference's visual identity is taken from the famous Bataille des Reines in Southwest Switzerland bordering France and Italy where cows of the Herens breed (Ehringer) fight for dominance in their herds. The looser walks away unharmed.
